Top Reasons Librarians Rock:

3. They know where the book is that “is about the thing, when the guy did … , you know, the one my friend read”.

2. Who else knows the Dewey Decimal System so well?
1. They ARE the original “search engine”

Seriously though, there’s a good post you should all read over at The Other Librarian about the Top-ten Library 2.0 “No-brainers” for Public Libraries. I’ve taken the liberty of striking out the word “Public” here because I don’t think the post really differentiates between public and school libraries (other than using the word in the title, that is.)

Hey, thanks for the mention! I added the “Public” scope because that’s my area of expertise. I also think that school libraries might want to add some others (ie. have cool multimedia hardware available for use) in place of some of the others.

Dewey Decimal? Naw. . . we are into folksonomies now. :) Though Dewey still gets you to some great books.
